

The area of Laurens, New York was settled in 1774. The Village of Laurens was incorporated in 1811. In 1860, the village had a population of 726 and contained a tannery, an iron foundry, a sawmill, and a cotton mill that was powered by water from Gilbert Lake. The current estimated population in the village is 263 based on the 2010 census.
The 2026 annual election of the Village of Laurens will be held on Wednesday, March 18, 2026. Polls will be open from noon to 9:00 P.M. at the Laurens Town Library, 69 Main Street, Laurens NY.
